web design projects

Weebly Project

Today you will create a website using Weebly. By now you have created a website using Wix. The majority of the web projects you will use to create websites outside the classroom (unless you are a full time web designer or coder) will be through site building programs. Each web design program is very similar but they are also each very different in their own way.
Today you will go to www.weebly.com and create a free account. This website will be a business website. Your job is to:

*Create a name or idea for a business
*Using Photo Shop Create a logo and color scheme for your business ( google "logo")
*The landing page of your website should tell your customer what you do and sell whatever service you offer. An average customer will wait or look at a page for no more than 3 to 5 seconds so make your home page interesting and intriguing.
*You should have a page dedicated to what your service is.
*One page should be the background of your business or how you got where you are with your business, meaning of your logo or business name.
* You should have one page that shows the viewer exactly what you do,  complete with at least 20 pictures.
* The last page should be a contact page, how can you your customers get what your selling.
Remember you need to define your business, target audience, logo, and color scheme. These things should be apparent to someone who rolls across your website.

Web Design combines all of the types of digital media we've covered so far this semester. Graphic design is important to visually arrange the content on your site. Animation, audio, and video are all components that add user interactivity and impressive embedded features to a website to help take it to the next level. There are many different approaches to web design - each one having its own set of advantages and disadvantages. We will begin by learning basic image mapping by adding links to a highly-designed image that will be made in Photoshop. Then we will learn some basic HTML code and CSS styling by using a table layout and adding spry assets to our webpages. Finally, we will explore the capabilities of CSS templates and create a easy to manipulate, but stunningly attractive website that will showcase all of the skills you've learned in Digital Media.
If you finish your projects before their due date, and have checked the rubric to make sure you're meeting all of the project requirements, try your hand at an practice project. They are meant to further develop your skills and learn new tools and features, and will count as an extra credit grade when submitted. Show me what you got!
